MBF Aluminum, conscious of its responsibilities, decided in June 2016 to embark on a process to rationalize its energy consumption and expenditure, and with the objective of obtaining, in the first quarter of 2017, ISO 50001 certification: this objective was reached !
From a macroeconomic point of view, the implementation of ISO 50001 is intended to lead to a reduction in greenhouse gas and other environmental impacts as well as energy costs by one methodical energy management. For the company applying for certification, the objective is to establish the systems and processes needed to improve energy performance, including energy efficiency, use and consumption.
The process of ISO 50001 was very complex, but on March 31, 2017, MBF Aluminum was certified ISO 50001 and one of the very first certified in the foundry sector.
“We are very proud to have obtained this certification. We have an ambitious objective, “commented Gianpiero Colla, executive vice president of MBF Aluminum.”Decrease by at least 8% in 3 years, equivalent production, the company’s overall energy consumption. Because we want to safeguard our future by making a positive difference. MBF ALUMINUM undertakes collectively to study the actions needed to reduce consumption and monitor its effectiveness: all employees participate. Because for each one of us, the success of our work, our actions and our everyday behavior must be fulfilled. ”
“This award reaffirms our ability and our investment in innovation and global service for our customers. It is a tribute to the employees who continue to make of this factory an excellent site. For MBF Aluminum, this award is a great achievement and it is the recognition of the efforts and hard work of all its employees.”

Founded thirteen years ago, the Supplier Awards are given to suppliers who are fully committed to their relationship with PSA Peugeot Citroën during the year and responded most effectively to the Group’s expectations through their performances (70 industrial sites, 5% of the Group’s suppliers).

It is universally recognized that our future will be influenced by the world’s energy use. How a company manages energy can help immediately to achieve benefits. Improved energy efficiency can in fact contribute to reduce global warming, conserve resources, cut costs and improve the productivity.
As company there is a way to reach seriously this important task: obtaining the certification ISO 50001 (in Europe over 10.000 organizations are certified of which only 500 in France).
The ISO 50001 guides companies, whatever is their business sector, in the implementation of an operational management system of the energy which will allow them to make the best use of this one.
MBF aluminum aware of its responsibilities, decided to move towards ISO 50001 in an approach of rationalization of its consumptions and energy expenditure and with the objective to obtain it in the first quarter 2017.
” We have an ambitious objective “, commented Gianpiero Colla, Vice-president Exécutive of MBF Aluminum. ” Decrease of at least 8% in 3 years the global consumption of energy of our company. Because we want to protect our future by making a positive difference. The obtaining of the certification and the application of this standard are priority objectives for MBF which makes collectively a commitment to realize the necessary actions for the reduction of the consumptions, to follow the efficiency of these actions and to bring the information, the training and the necessary resources to manage this challenge and to make it live durably ».

The Family Day has been also a way to recognize the big work made by all the employees in these last two years. The commitment of all allowed to reachimportant results: it should be noted that MBF aluminum after having been certified ISO / TS 16949 ( International Quality Standard) in March 2013 which was renewed in 2014 also obtained the certification ISO / TS 14001 ( International Environmental Standard), besides its commitment in the respect and the control of its environment, indispensable to entry on the German markets. After a tragic motorcycle accident on his way to work in April 2011, Angelo Hernandez, MBF Aluminium’s employee since 1992, finds himself paraplegic. Given his determination and motivation, MBF Aluminium decided to do everything in order to reinsert him.
Angelo Hernandez, before his accident, worked as fitter in one of the MBF plants at St. Claude (Jura). But following the event, for a security reasons, it was impossible to give him the same job.
MBF Aluminium has therefore built for him a dedicated workspace in the factory warehouse: Angelo Hernandez is now responsible for receiving orders, entry and exit of goods and parts in stock. For this reason, some works to facilitate his access to MBF Aluminium and allow his daily treatment were implemented: it has been open an access from the parking garage to a treatment room newly created , various facilities in the warehouse were changed, it was adapted a wheelchair … All the activities cost a total of 25,000 euros, 60% of the fees were paid by AGEFIPH (Association of Management of the Fund for Integration of Persons with Disabilities) and SAMETH (Service Assistance in Maintaining Employment of disabled workers).
MBF Aluminium, by developing the new workspace of Angelo Hernandez, made an important gesture for the employee who showed motivation with his desire to return to work and meet again his colleagues. The company proved by this example that the social dimension is one of its pillars. Today, Angelo Hernandez continues to ride a motorbike, to sky and to swim. He is fighting to change the image of disability.
